Hunter Faubion joined the Kiwanis-family in ####. As a member of the CKI Chapter of Sam Houston State University, he served the Texas-Oklahoma District of CKI as Southeast Texas/Gulf Coast Lt. Governor in 1996-1997, as District Treasurer in 1997-1998, and District Governor in 1998-1999.

Hunter has always been a major proponent of the Freshman Leadership Incentive Program. He joined the Kiwanis Committee on CKI in the 2006-2007 as a regional advisor to the Southeast Texas/Gulf Coast division. In 2014, he returned to the committee as District Administrator until 2017. During his tenure as district administrator, he encouraged club chartering, re-chartering, and growth for struggling chapters. As a result, the members of the CKI District Board of Officers were able to motivate and foster growth that allowed the district to reach membership numbers not seen since the 1980s. This award was named for Hunter by a vote of the 2017-2018 District Board to honor his contributions toward inspiring chapter improvement.
